The Practice

Through her work Devi uses the gestures and materials of Haute Couture to create textured abstractions that honour the slow, meditative process of the artisan. Trained in the esteemed embroidery techniques of high fashion and using the finest sequins and beads from Langlois Martin, Devi’s works exists at the nexus between fashion and fine art.

Rather than drawing or sketching, her process begins with calculations. Numbers, grids and formulae become frameworks through which she navigates the emotional landscape of each piece. The result isn’t algorithmic but intuitive: vibrant, structured compositions that emerge from repetition, rhythm and small deliberate gestures.

Each artwork is a site of accumulation and quiet transformation. Devi sees embroidery as a form processing grief, memory, and identity through the hand. Sequins, beads, threads, and techniques are building blocks in a deeply personal and resonant language that invites viewers to look closely, linger, and discover the beauty of complexity in a chaotic world.
